Overdentures are dentures which derive their support from one or more abutement teeth by completely enveloping them beneath the fitting surface.The abutement teeth are usually root filled and either simply reduced or used inconjunction with stud of bar precision attachments.

By retaining the roots more support is obtained for the denture.

Less bone loss will take place in this area.

If used with studs or bars greater support and retention is available to hold the denture in place.
